Some thoughts after watching Spectre !

2 PM. November 13 (27th Karthik). My room @ Tinkune. After wrapping up the Bhai Tika session, we 4 brothers sat to decide what would be better now to do. Primarily two choices came up: first, play cards. Second, watch movie.

Since two brothers are too ignorant about playing marriage, second choice was passed with majority! Again, two choices were there; two high-profile movies were running in the theater. Salman Khan starrer Prem Ratan Dhan Payo, and James Bond's latest installment Spectre. Again, second choice got higher points.
QFX at Civil Mall, Sundhara was much crowded thanks to the holiday all Nepali were enjoying! After some "ticketing" and "advertorial" things, finally Daniel Craig shows up in the 22 meter by 16 meter screen. Starting with the Mexico City, the movie revolves around many parts of the world since, as usual; Bond solves cases connected with international networks! The first sequence with a helicopter is amazing. One of the assassins, who were planning to blow up a stadium in Mexico City, luckily escaped from the Bond. Mr. Bond chased him, but the escapee managed to climb the helicopter which his friend has flown. As expected, Bond fights him hard in the flying chopper. After some dhum dhum dhis, Bond managed to throw Sciarra out of the helicopter into the ground! Then Bond returns to London, his headquarter, where he got suspended temporarily by the head of the Joint Intelligent Service.
Bond goes to Rome to meet the beautiful widow of Sciarra. He does some boring romance with her and succeeds to take some important information about the gang: Spectre. Director Sam Mendes, I guess he also directed Skyfall – the earlier Bond movie, looks so confident in some highly fancy scenes and plots. Bond girls are many in this movie, if not limited to three! Okay, let's come to the story again. Bond is so busy travelling different countries. He goes to Austria and sits on a meeting with White who is constantly poisoned and kept in home-jail by Blofeld (Christoph Waltz) and company! Bond promises him to take care of his daughter Dr. Madeline. On the course, White shots himself on head. Bond finds Dr. Madeline, but Hinx abducts her. Don’t you worry, Daniel Craig aka Bond rescues her and finds a ring from Hinx which shows the connection between different partners in the Spectre. Oh, sorry if I forgot to tell that Dr. Madeline and Bond falls for each other. She tells Bond what she knows about the mission and the Spectre. They go to the hotel in Morocco where her dad usually stayed. Bond finds the secret tunnel in the hotel room but soon gets attacked by Hinx. He gets captured by Oberhauser (read Blofeld) and tortured. In fact, the scene of torturing Bond is quite visual. A machine inserts needle deep into the head of Bond. And effects needle had is also shown separately. Interestingly, children Bond is looked after by Oberhauser's parents. So they are quite relative! Bond and Madeline manage to blast Oberhauser's laboratory and escapes. They returns to London and stops the launch of the dangerous bomb; something named Nine Eyes. At last, Madeline rightly understands that Bond won't be a homely boyfriend. He always hunts and searches for missions. So she lets him go. Bond finally takes down the helicopter Oberhauser flying in. Then, 2 hour 30 minutes long film ends. My 350 rupees got spent! :)
After jotting down my initial views, I searched for reviews it got from international media. It is not so convincing. The New York Times hitched the movie as "nothing surprising" whereas Forbes also criticized the film as "the worst 007 movie in 30 years". Lawrence Toppmann of The Charlotte Observer literally crossed the line by stating the Craig's performance "Bored, James Bored." On the other side, Peter Bradshaw writing in The Guardian, the famous newspaper from Craig's country UK called the film "inventive, intelligent and complex" and also gave 5 out of 5 stars.
IMDb's 7.2 out of 10, Rotten Tomatoes' 63% and Metacritic's 60% rating would certainly put the latest Bond sensation into a successful Bond film. Nevertheless, I must say it's boring and predictive. If you are a Bond fan, you will and should watch it anyway!
