Holidays in excess

This year’s Tamu Lhosar was celebrated on 15 Paush (30th December). With no hard feelings for Tamu community, I want to say that there is one another holiday gone wasted. For the calendar year 2073, there are all together 50 (I will fact-check this) public holidays minus Saturdays. Wow, what a large number!

Poor countries have more holidays than any other more developed & rich country. Poorer people have more problems, sorrows and hardship. Weak economic conditions oblige them to do works that demand high physical effort rather intellect. resulting into them having desire for more moments and chances to have fun or light moments.
Christmas is actually celebrated by only 4% of the total population in Nepal. Grant holiday only for Christian people.

Bulk Leave
A working person may not be interested in some random holidays like that for religious events. S/he should get leave when she falls sick though. Sick leave is actually already in practice in many organizations operating in our country. Nevertheless, you can’t ignore the fact that worker want to travel. I vividly remember what current ambassador to China and ex Chief Secretary of Nepal government Leelamani Poudyal was Trade Envoy (Mahabanijyadut) for Lhasa, capital of Tibet. I have read his interview about incidents and experiences while working in Lhasa. “Greeneries were very limited near Potala Palace. No well-grown, tall trees were nearby to see. At that time, a meeting of high delegates was called for.
