Rain cladded World Cup

On Sunday, India thrashed Pakistan (Pak) once again as they used to do at least in World Cups (WC) in a rain affected match. 

DLS modified target was 305 but poor batting Pak could only get 212. The only positive thing the Pak could take from that game should be pacer Mohammad Amir's lethal attacks - starting the first over with a maiden. He got Rohit Sharma, he got Dhoni, and basically he did his job pretty well. 

But Pak batsmen seemed distracted and fell apart quite easily. Only second wicket partnership was worth seeing. Even that was slow and never threatened India strongly.

So that’s about the famous and blood bathed India Pak clash aided by political and military unrests between them.

Champions League Is Knocking On The Door!

Europe’s top club football competition Champions League is around the corner with Round of 16 games starting from February 13. Top side of top leagues from Europe are competing here. Lets talk about how each club is believed to go ahead in this high-level tournament:

Defending champion Real Madrid aka Los Blancos are in a real mess in domestic league with trailing the league leader Barcelona by 19 points. 19 points after 26 matches is a huge deficit which can only be fulfilled in Mathematics not in real scenario. The fact is Madrid is performing very poor with all of their star players including Ronaldo and Benzema could not perform as par. Henceforth, their domestic league winning probability is nearly went to null. But Bayern Munich manager Jupp Heynckes still backs Madrid against the star-studded French side PSG. He said  it is quite normal for his former club to be already  out of the domestic La Liga race, but their experience in the Champions League makes them favorites against the PSG.

Talking about PSG, they leads second placed Marseille by 11 points in the domestic League 1. But, performance in the League 1 does not necessarily results in the top flight since French league is full of low-class clubs. Therefore PSG make it look so easy to score 6/7 goals in a match, which is not the case in EPL or La Liga.

In my opinion, Barcelona is the favorites to win this prestigious competition. With Coutinho transferred to Camp Nou and Dembele fit again to play Barcelona would be unstoppable. With the current form of Chelsea, with who it is playing in top 16, I must say they will register an easy victory in both the legs.

Now, lets talk about the English clubs. Former Barcelona and Leicester legend Gary Linekar has chosen Tottenham as the favorites from the English clubs to do good in the CL. He has ruled out the probability of Madrid in the tournament. Honestly, City can give a tough competition for winning the CL looking at their dangerous side. City has spent a huge amount of money in their defense and their midfield and forward was already good. The domestic EPL is already in the hands of City with   13 points lead and looking invincible with only one defeat on the hands of Liverpool at Anfield.

Premier League Hot & Happening : Swansea

This Wednesday Arsenal faced a humiliating defeat in the Premier League (PL). About a week ago, Liverpool encountered the similar result. This is same Liverpool club who has beaten league leaders City.

A same thing happened in both scenes: Swansea football club. Let's look at the league table before Liverpool match.

Gary Linekar also tweeted that there is only 6 points difference (hence takes only two games to separate) between 10^th positioned and 20^th positioned club. And he was absolutely right about that. Who goes to relegation and who finishes within top 10 is still in great uncertainty.

Even Swansea took full three points with the narrow win against Liverpool, they remained on the bottom of the league. But, after Arsenal game things are little different. And Swansea is close to 13^th placed Crystal Palace in the sense that they are just ahead of three points. Now, Swansea is at 19^th.

Goal difference is better than 16^th place Stoke and 17^th place Huddersfield. This clearly indicates that Swansea has a high chance that it can climb up the table next game week. Looking at the current form, they may win or at least draw.

What have changed with Swansea?

Swansea is now with new manager, Carlos Carvahal after they have sacked Paul Clement on December 2017. 

One clear thing the Carvahal has changed with the Swansea is their defensive setup. Even if the ball in opponent's legs they have kept their momentum and enthusiasm to grab the ball. Unlike Carvahal's usual attacking strategy, he went for more defensive foundation. And it clearly improved their performance from Tottenham game.

Mike van der Hoorn is the central defender who has nowadays go up on the field and support middle play. His beautiful cross on Newcastle game gave Jordan Ayew a goal.

Jordan's elder brother Andre has returned to Swansea from West Ham for a club record fee of $25.5 million. He was their leading scorer with 12 goals in the previous season.

संगसंगै नर्सहरुको आन्दोलन पनि झनै कडा बन्दै गैरहेको छ. म्रिग्यौला प्रत्यारोपण केन्द्रबाट बिनाकारण निकालिएका नर्सहरुको पुनर्बहालीको माग राखेर नेपाल नर्सिङ्ग संग आन्दोलित छ. तर सरकारले यस बिषयमा पनि गम्भीर चासो दिएको छैन. नर्सहरुको असमान तलब प्रणालि पनि उनीहरुको मागमा परेको छ. हो पनि. १२/१४ खटेर, बिरामीको  नजिक रहेर सेवा दिएर पनि ८/१० हजार महिनाको कमाउदा उनीहरुको पनि जीवन चल्न गाह्रो पर्छ. यसै कारण नर्सहरु विदेशिने क्रम पनि अत्यधिक बढेको छ.  कान्ति बाल अस्पतालका झन्डै १० नर्सले एकैपटक जागिर छोडेको पनि यसै प्रसंगमा जोडिन पुग्छ.

Holidays in excess

This year’s Tamu Lhosar was celebrated on 15 Paush (30^th December). With no hard feelings for Tamu community, I want to say that there is one another holiday gone wasted. For the calendar year 2073, there are all together 50 (I will fact-check this) public holidays minus Saturdays. Wow, what a large number!

Bollywood masala

Being a typical Nepali, I always feel confused whether to watch (can be read as promote) Hindi movies by going to theatre or not. Internet has allowed to download movies resulting in choice to go theatre spending money or watch movie at home for free. If you are a fan of any particular movie star, then you could feel pushed to the theatre even for early shows. 

Being a Salman Khan fan, I also sometimes feel obliged to go to movie theatre to watch his films. But I did not watch his last two movies in the movie hall. I watched them in my laptop!

The Special One!

If you type ‘the special one’ in Google search box and hit Enter, you will get links about Jose Mourinho! Google is so clever that he knows who the special one in club football is. In fact, Mourinho, Portuguese by birth, he described himself as the special one in 2007 for the first time in Chelsea. After his first stint as the manager in the Blues, much water has been passed through Bagmati! ;) He again came back to Stamford Bridge and won a league title already. We will talk about him in little more detail now.

Frustrated youths

One of my friend, who is a computer engineer by profession, always talks like a totally frustrated person. In fact, he is regarded as a ‘complain box’ in our friend circle. He don’t like his current job where he gets very little salary. He wants to go abroad but due to his family’s economic stature he is unable to pay handsome amount to go some lavish country. On the other hand, he is constantly trying for governmental vacancies for like two years. Still, no luck. He drinks alcohol a lot and smokes like 10 cigarettes daily to beat his frustration.

२०१६÷१७ सिजनको इंग्लिश प्रिमियर लिग (इपिएल) यहि अगस्ट १३ अर्थात साउन २९ बाट सुरु हुँदैछ । १५ दिन पनि बाँकी छैन । युरो कपको रोमान्च अनि कोपा अमेरिकाको लँडाइ सकिन नपाउँदै फुटबलका फ्यानहरुलाई अर्को महाउत्सव सुरु हुँदैछ । हुन त अन्य देशहरुमा पनि फुटबल लिग सुरु हुनै लागेका छन । स्पेनको लालिगा, इटालीको सीरी ए, जर्मनीको बुन्डेसलिगा, फ्रान्सको लिग वन सबै केहि महिनाको विश्रामपछि पुन सुरु हुँदै छन । तर इपिएल भनेको इपिएल हो यार । :) यहाँ जति रोमान्चकता, प्रतिस्पर्धा अनि रगडा अरु कहाँ ?

Following his penalty miss and weak performance on the last game, Messi has announce his retirement from international career. That means we can't see him playing for his country Argentina.

 आज मैतिदेवीमा देखेको दृश्यबाट सुरु गरौँ । झन्डै ६ महिनाको बच्चालाई क्याइरिङ ब्यागमा अघि राखेर एक आमा स्कुटरमा जाँदै थिइन । स्कुटरमा गति एकदमै कम थियो । अगाडिबाट हानिरहेको हावा त्यति वेगयुक्त पनि थिएन । मलाई झट्ट सोच आयो, आहा कति स्मार्ट आमा । शायद आफ्नो काममा जाँदै थिइन ।

Free Student Union Election Should Be Held ASAP

Nowadays governmental colleges are gaining extra momentum in terms of political heat since TU announced that election of Free Student Union (FSU) will take place in Baisakh, 2073. Unfortunately, the election has not taken place since four full years. The major student body among colleges normally elects its new working committee every two years.
